چکیده

Aims: This work investigated the phytochemical constituents and synergistic antibacterial activity of ethanolic extracts Mondia whytei roots Physalis peruviana leaves.
Study Design: study employed both qualitative quantitative methods.
Place Duration Study: All research works were performed at Central Science Laboratories, Faculty science, Kyambogo University between September 2021 March 2022.
Methodology: Standard methods followed for screening roots, leaves. The potential evaluated through agar well diffusion assay. bacteria strains cultured on Mueller-Hinton agar. Sterile cork borer (6 mm diameter) was used to create wells petri discs filled aseptically with 10 µl test extract (100 mg/ml) Chloramphenicol (0.5 as positive control. interaction combined assessed by determining their fractional inhibitory concentration (FIC) index.
Results: Alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, phenols found be present in extracts. Cardiac glycosides, terpenoids, anthraquinnones steroids only activities extract, leaves obtained following zone inhibitions; 19.20 ± 0.72 mm, 19.77 0.60 25.93 0.83 S. aureus 15.50 0.46 15.00 0.26 17.87 0.61 E.coli respectively, compared standard reference antibiotic 26.00 0.00 24.00 E. coli. MICs determined 0.1-100 mg/ml, FIC index from MIC values corresponding 0.5 (synergistic) 1.0 (additive) coli.
Conclusion: results support traditional claims using selected plants treat bacterial infections. had low human pathogens, Hence, if these are unison, greater efficacy could achieved; further studies should done commercial antibiotics.

Efficiency of Cu, Ag, and Fe Nanoparticles As Detergents Preservatives Against E. coli and S. aureus

In this study, Cu, Ag, and Fe nanoparticles (NPs) are used in shampoo, hand washing liquid (HWL) and dish washing liquid (DWL) instead of the conventional synthetic preservatives such as isothiazolinones; since the latter often act as potent sensitizers that leads to development of allergic contact dermatitis. The above NPs are considerably effective against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus ...

The Antibacterial Activity of Date Syrup Polyphenols against S. aureus and E. coli

Plant-derived products such as date syrup (DS) have demonstrated antibacterial activity and can inhibit bacteria through numerous different mechanisms, which may be attributed to bioactive compounds including plant-derived phenolic molecules. DS is rich in polyphenols and this study hypothesized that DS polyphenols demonstrate inherent antimicrobial activity, which cause oxidative damage. This ...

detection of volatile compounds of medicinal plants with some nano-sorbents using modified or new methodologies and investigation of antioxidant activity of their methanolic extracts

in this work, a novel and fast method for direct analysis of volatile compounds (davc) of medicinal plants has been developed by holding a filament from different parts of a plant in the gc injection port. the extraction and analysis of volatile components of a small amount of plant were carried out in one-step without any sample preparation. after optimization of temperature, extraction time a...

The antibacterial activity of the water extracts of three species of Salvia on Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa

The aim of this study was to evaluate the antibacterial activity of the water extracts of three species of Salvia (S. perspolitana, S. palaestina, S. bracteata) on Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeroginosa. The antibacterial activity of water extracts of the studied species on the bacterial strains was examined using well diffusion method and minimum inhibitory concentr...

Functionalization of multi-wall carbon nanotubes with Metformin derivatives and study of their antibacterial activities against E-Coli and S. aureus

Bacteria can grow in different materials that are in close contact with humans, foods, etc., so, it is very important to control this matter in order to prevent risk of infections. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) threatens the effective prevention and treatment of an ever-increasing range of infections caused by bacteria, parasites, viruses and fungi. Multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) have inte...
